From an island in the Bristol Channel, a distress signal goes out over the airwaves. Siren is an original short work for radio written and read by Holly Corfield Carr.
Commissioned by BBC Radio 4 for Short Works, Siren was produced in Bristol by Mair Bosworth and first broadcast on 17 May 2019. It was repeated on 19 May 2019, just before the Shipping Forecast and is available online on BBC Sounds in the UK.
Siren was selected by Stuart Maconie for Pick of the Week who described it as a ‘swirling, mesmerizing exploration of distress and dislocation’. You can listen to Stuart’s selection above.
