A harbour travels around a line. The line travels around a boat. The boat travels around your body, star-jumping in the water’s private weather. Written to the rhythms of Bristol’s last shantyman, Stanley Slade, Aft is a sightseeing trip with the ferryman across Bristol’s Floating Harbour.
Commissioned by Spike Island with Bristol Ferry as part of the Spike Open 2015, Aft ran from 1st – 5th May 2015 and was performed at Bristol University as part of the conference Topographies: Places to Find Something on the 14th May 2015.
For more information, the blog post ‘bark safely’ discusses the research and production of Aft.
